Is there a background check to run for office?
Question from Info Meeting participant CW: Is there a background check for office?

Answer: There is no requirement for a background check in the Town of Erie's code as they relate to candidates running for election. The current restrictions in the Town code are:
  • You may not run if you are a current Town employee.
  • You may not run if you hold another elected office at the local, state, or federal level.
  • You may not run if you have current litigation against the Town.
