T-minus Two Days to Charrette!
The 7-day charrette kicks off on Wednesday, November 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Erie Community Center. We invite you to this opening presentation to discover how Town Center can be a unique and thriving place. In the days following this presentation you are invited to create alongside the designers in open studio sessions or attend any of the presentations. To view the schedule, and learn more visit the Town Center webpage.

Coyotes
Colorado Parks and Wildlife hosted an educational meeting Friday evening to discuss living with coyotes. More than 30 residents attended to share their encounters and learn about other reported incidents. Coexisting with coyotes is challenging for many communities in the west; coyotes are just too adaptable.  And while they can be a hazard to pets, they are also helpful in keeping rabbits, mice, voles and other rodents under control. To learn more, see the CPW brochure on Living With Coyotes; How to Avoid Wildlife Conflicts.

Nine Mile Update
In these initial and crucial stages of developing the Nine Mile corner the Town is working alongside with:
  • CDOT, RTD, Lafayette, Boulder County and local developers to evaluate the potential for, and location of a Bus Rapid Transit site
  • Boulder County to analyze the potential for and footprint of an underpass connecting the Nine Mile and Lafayette sites
  • Boulder County Historic Preservation and Evergreen (developer) studying the possible relocation of the WWI monuments on Arapahoe Road
  • Lafayette to address stormwater and the potential of a regional water storage tank

Parks and Recreation

Parks and Recreation

The Parks Division was responsible for snow removal around Town facilities this week ensuring visitors had safe access.

Parks staff replaced the rubber playground surfacing in the KidStation playground inside the Erie Community Center and the playground at Erie Community Park.

Halloween Safety Stop

Police Department

The highlight of the week was the Annual Safety Stop which was based on a Harry Potter theme.  Approximately 120 children, dressed in all types of costumes with parents in tow, completed the scavenger hunt throughout the building. One handsome young SWAT officer hopes to join the force in a few years.  All of the officers agreed they would love to have him on the force!
