Natural Gas Line Repairs
E. County Line Road and Erie Parkway
Beginning on Monday, January 21 and through Friday, SiteWise, an Xcel Energy contractor, will be working at E. County Line Road and Erie Parkway. Xcel Energy will also be onsite to execute ‘flaring’. The flaring is necessary in order to “pickle” the gas line, a process during which the odorant Xcel adds to the gas supply is brought up to a level that allows Xcel to smell the gas in the event of a leak. Potholes will be filled following the successful tie-in of the new pipe and capping of the old gas line. Asphalt restoration cannot be completed until the weather is more agreeable.
SiteWise expects the flaring to take between 20 and 30 minutes, and the flame to be between 10 and 20 feet high. The flaring will occur on the west of E. County Line Road and approximately 1,500 feet north of Erie Parkway. SiteWise has communicated the flaring operation to local authorities.
