Board of Trustees Seeks Volunteers
for Boards & Commissions

The Town of Erie Board of Trustees is seeking citizens who are interested in volunteering their time in public service to the community by serving on various boards and commissions. Applicants who have education and/or experience in any of the following areas are greatly encouraged to apply.  To be considered for appointments applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on April 30, 2018.  All Board and Commission members must be a resident of the Town of Erie.  The application and more information about meeting dates and times can be found online here

The following Boards and Commissions have existing and potential vacancies:

Board of Adjustments

The Board of Adjustment meets on an as-needed basis to consider such things as variances to the Zoning Code or setback requirements. The five members and two alternates are appointed by the Board of Trustees to rotating three year terms.

Historic Preservation Board

The Town of Erie Historic Preservation Advisory Board meets to discuss issues related to the preservation of historic structures, documents, and artifacts in Erie. The Board reports to the Board of Trustees in an advisory capacity. Members are appointed by the Board of Trustees to staggered four-year terms.

Open Space and Trails Advisory Board

The Open Space and Trails Advisory Board (OSTAB) advises the Board of Trustees on open space and trail related issues. The Board of Trustees makes the appointment of seven members to staggered four-year terms.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission reviews proposed land uses and forwards recommendations to the Board of Trustees. The seven members of the Planning Commission are appointed by the Board of Trustees to rotating four-year terms, which end in April of even numbered years.

NEW! Sustainability Advisory Board

The Sustainability Advisory Board was established on March 27, 2018.  This board will advise the Board of Trustees with matters that relate to the planning, development, maintenance and management of sustainability activities throughout Erie.   Seven members will be appointed by the Board of Trustees in staggered four-year terms.

Tree Board

Erie is a Tree City USA, a designation granted by the National Arbor Day Foundation to municipalities who effectively manage their public tree resources and implement community forestry programs. The Board meets monthly to discuss these programs and related issues. The Tree Board consists of seven members appointed by the Board of Trustees in April of even-numbered years to serve four-year terms.
