Courtesy Notice from Crestone Peak Resources
Crestone Peak Resources has notified the Town of Erie that they will soon begin the task of plugging and abandoning a single well on the Edward P Costigan location. This site is just west of County Road 5 and north of County Road 6.
According to Crestone, starting this week, a truck mounted service rig will move in and rig up. A crew will pull tubing out of the well, set permanent plugs, and cement the well per Colorado Oil & Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) regulations. Once set, this cement casing will be cut-off below surface and a metal plate will be welded into place. Surface equipment that supports this well will be removed as well. There are still producing wells on this site so the majority of the production equipment will not be removed.
All access to this site is limited to the designated access road. Equipment expected on location during this time includes a truck mounted service rig, various pieces of heavy equipment, water tanks, trucks and worker pickup trucks. According to Crestone, all work will be done during the day. This activity should last approximately two weeks (barring any weather delays).
