Park Plans Prioritized
In a demonstration of support for the priority the Erie community places on our parks, trails and Open Space, this week the Town of Erie Board of Trustees approved over a half million dollars in contracts for the master planning of four projects, including Coal Creek Park; the Linear Trail Corridor; the final phase of Erie Community Park and the Schofield Farm/Strieby Open Space.
According to Town of Erie Parks and Recreation Director Farrell Buller, these projects are a direct result of the recently adopted Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Trails (PROST) Master Plan. “As we continue to build our community, our emphasis on quality recreational opportunities and amenities is in complete alignment with why people choose to call Erie home in the first place,” Buller said.
Buller emphasized that similar to the PROST process, a vital component of each of these projects is stakeholder outreach and engagement. “There will be a public process to ensure the design of the parks addresses the community’s needs,” Buller said.
