Second Suspect in Vista Ridge Burglary Arrested
The Town of Erie Police Department is notifying the public that the second of the two suspects in the Vista Ridge burglary has been arrested and is in custody.
Anthony M. Wilcox, 21, from Lakewood, Colorado, was taken into custody today (April 10, 2017) by the Aurora Police Department’s SWAT, the Jefferson County Fugitive Unit, the Denver Police Department Fugitive Unit and the FBI at approximately 1:35 pm. Wilcox had been staying at in a house in Aurora, Colorado and was apprehended without incident.
Erie Police had an arrest warrant for Wilcox stemming from this burglary which occurred on March 31,2017.
The first suspect, Jonathon Avila, age 24, of Denver was arrested on March 31, 2017 in Westminster.
BACKGROUND: Erie Police responded to a burglary of a residence in the 2100 block of Lupine Place on Friday, March 31, 2017. The burglary occurred sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The victim’s home was ransacked and several windows were broken out. Property was taken from the residence including a small safe and camera equipment. One of the victim’s cars was also stolen from the garage. The stolen vehicle was later recovered in Denver after it had apparently been involved in an accident. Residents in the area reported a red pickup truck backed into the driveway of the victim’s home between the times this burglary was reported to have occurred.
