One Suspect Arrested in Vista Ridge Burglary
The Town of Erie Police Department is notifying the public that one of the two suspects of the Vista Ridge burglary which occurred last week has been arrested and is in custody. Jonathon Avila, age 24, of Denver was arrested on March 31, 2017 in Westminster. The other suspect has been identified and Erie Police are continuing their investigation.
These two men have recently committed crimes in a number of jurisdictions in the metro area.
BACKGROUND: Erie Police responded to a burglary of a residence in the 2100 block of Lupine Place on Friday, March 31, 2017. The burglary occurred sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The victim’s home was ransacked and several windows were broken out. Property was taken from the residence including a small safe and camera equipment. One of the victim’s cars was also stolen from the garage. The stolen vehicle was later recovered in Denver after it had apparently been involved in an accident. Residents in the area reported a red pickup truck backed into the driveway of the victim’s home between the times this burglary was reported to have occurred.
