Board Considers 80 Acre “Allan Farms”
Open Space Annexation
The Board of Trustees approved a resolution adopting certain findings of fact and conclusions favorable to the Allan Farms Open Space Annexation. The Town-owned property is located on the east side of 119th Street north of Jasper Road and is comprised of two parcels of land totaling approximately 80 acres. In separate actions, the Board considered the Annexation and Zoning (Agricultural/Open Space) of the property on First Readings. The Board is scheduled to consider these ordinances on Second Reading during their October 11th meeting.
Background: On November 10, 2015, the Board approved the Purchase and Sale Agreement for the Allan Farms property in an amount of $1,680,000. With the purchase of Allan Farms, the Town of Erie’s Open Space portfolio currently consists of approximately 1,200 acres of which, approximately 85% of those acres (+/- 1,050 acres) have been purchased by the Town and are uniquely Erie. Approximately 15% (+/- 150 acres) are held in a conservation easement with Boulder County.
Related: In March of this year, the Board approved the Boele-Messersmith Open Space Annexation. The properties, purchased by the Town in 2014, are zoned Agricultural/Open Space and approximately 4.7 acres in size and located along County Line Road, south and east of County Line Mini-Storage. In December of last year, the Board approved the Strieby-Schofield Open Space Annexation. The Town-owned properties are zoned Agricultural/Open Space and approximately 38 acres in size and located between Highway 287 and North 111th Street north of Erie Lake Reservoir.
