Boulder Community Health Medical Office Building
& Urgent Care Facility Moves Forward

In response to a request from  Boulder Community Health (the applicant), the Board approved an ordinance on Second Reading which allows an “Urgent Care Facility” as a permitted use on an approximately 6 acre parcel located at the northwest corner of Erie Parkway and South Briggs Street.  As now defined in the Erie Commons Development Guide, Urgent Care Facilities are “medical facilities that offer immediate evaluation and treatment for health conditions that are not severe enough to require treatment in the hospital or a hospital emergency room.”

BACKGROUND: During their presentation to the Board on August 23rd, Boulder Community Health (BCH) described their plans for a two story, approximately 40,000 sq. ft. medical office building inclusive of an Urgent Care Facility.   According to BCH, they anticipate to begin construction in October of 2017 with an estimated completion date of fourth quarter in 2018.  The Planning Commission considered BCH’s request during their July 3, 2016 meeting and forwarded their recommendation of approval to the Board of Trustees.  BCH conducted a Neighborhood meeting on July 13, 2016 at the Erie Community Center.

Board Approves Master Plans for Colliers Hill
& Star Meadows Neighborhood Parks

The Board approved the Site Master Plan for Colliers Hill Neighborhood Park #1.  In February of this year the Board authorized the Town to enter into an agreement with Community Development Group to share design costs for the Colliers Hill Neighborhood Park #1.  Since then, Staff has been working with Stanley Consultants, a local landscape architectural firm, to generate a concept and complete a master plan. This master plan creates a site that will benefit the residents of Erie in their pursuit for both passive and active recreational activities.  This plan is currently being reviewed by citizens to solicit their input.

In a separate action, the Board approved the Site Master Plan for Star Meadows Park in Flatiron Meadows.  In October 2015, the Board of Trustees approved resolution authorizing Town of Erie to apply for grant from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) to assist with master plan and construction documents for the Flatiron Meadows Neighborhood Park site. As reported in a staff memo in April 2016 the Town of Erie received the requested $75,000 from GOCO to move project forward. Staff is pleased to be able to share this draft master plan with the Board at this time.

Staff has been working with Design Concepts, local Landscape Architect, to generate a unique concept and complete a master plan. Work has been in collaboration with Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) and has created a comprehensive framework for the neighborhood park, trail connections, and the grounds of the new BVSD school site.  This master plan is unique to Erie and creates a site that will benefit the residents of Erie in their pursuit for both passive and active recreational activities. This plan is currently being reviewed by citizens to solicit their input.

Board Honors Former Trustee Dr. Paul D. Ogg

The Board adopted a resolution honoring former Trustee Dr. Paul D. Ogg for his contributions and commitments to the Town of Erie.  Dr. Ogg was elected to the Town of Erie Board of Trustees in April of 2008 and served until September of 2013. Dr. Ogg passed away after an 18 month battle with cancer on July 16, 2016.  In addition to his personal obligations, Paul worked tirelessly during his tenure on the Board of Trustees for the betterment of his community by supporting and initiating many beneficial projects.  Two of his most enduring achievements would be the formation of the Town of Erie Urban Renewal Authority and his vision for the long term viability of the now completed Town of Erie Police and Municipal Court Building.  Paul’s sense of humor, kindness, energy and graciousness enriched those fortunate enough to know and work with him.
