The Boneyard Grand Opening Event

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to help us celebrate the Grand Opening of The Boneyard at Reliance Park on Wednesday, August 24th.  The Town of Erie would like to thank all of the sponsors and donors who helped make this park a possibility – we could not have done this without you!   View more pictures from the Grand Opening event here.

Below are Mayor Tina Harris’ remarks read at the Grand Opening Ceremony:

Welcome!  It is with great pride, I welcome you to the Grand Opening of Erie’s first-ever dog park – The Boneyard at Reliance Park.

This project began as a survey identified citizen priority and has remained close to my heart over the past two years.  I’m so happy this day has arrived as the Boneyard is truly a community success story.  Over $75,000 was raised by a committee of dedicated individuals to help build this park.  That is an amazing accomplishment.   Thank you to the corporate sponsors, major donors and local businesses for their support:

  • Todd and Robyn Bachamann
  • Zac and Jenn Cross
  • Longs Peak Sprinklers and Landscapes
  • Bowhaus Daycare & Boarding
  • Community Development Group
  • Erie Animal Hospital
  • Shea Homes
  • FRP Apparel
  • Richmond American Homes
  • Yellow Scene
  • Sweets Ice Cream and Coffee

In addition I would like to thank the over 100 citizens and donors that purchased bricks in memory of their loving pets.

The biggest thanks goes to the Erie Dog Park Committee.  The Committee put their passion into planning fundraisers, developing a website and designing the layout of the park. Everyone on the committee is excited to bring this long-awaited recreational amenity to Erie for our K9 friends to enjoy.

Special shout-out to the following committee members for their hard work:

  • Todd and Robyn Bachmann
  • William Powers
  • Dawn Fraser
  • Michael Gides
  • Debra Coyle
  • Kit Lammers

And lastly, a special thank you to Anders Temple for his vision and energy of creating the dog agility pieces for his Eagle Scout project.
