Erie Police Department Crime Prevention Alert

Since May 1, 2016, the Erie Police Department has received 11 reports of vehicle trespasses and burglaries throughout Erie. In each vehicle trespass case, the vehicle doors were unlocked and items of value were in view.  With the burglaries, either doors were unlocked or the garage was open allowing easy access to the residence.

It only takes a few minutes to steal items of value from a vehicle or a residence.  Thieves often grab cell phones, iPads, wallets, keys and other small, easy-to-conceal items.

Please do not leave valuables in plain view inside your vehicle and if possible, take them inside with you or lock them in your trunk.  Remember to keep your car doors locked and park your vehicle in well-lit areas.  Even if you happen to be in the back of your home doing yard work or playing with the kids or pets, keep the garage closed and the front portion of your house locked.   Do NOT make it easy for a thief to steal from you!

Anyone with information regarding these or any other crimes are asked to please contact the Erie Police Department at 303-926-2800. If you see suspicious activity in your neighborhood please call Boulder County Dispatch at 303-441-4444 for non-emergency calls, or 9-1-1 if you have an emergency.
