Community Police Academy - March 1
The nine-week academy meets Wednesday nights from 6-9 p.m. at the Erie Police Department beginning March 1.
The academy is designed to provide a medium for community members to understand why police do the things they do, encourage community members to become active in volunteering to help police in their neighborhoods, and heighten ownership in the Erie Police Department.
The Community Police Academy offers the following:
- Building searches, including shoot or don’t shoot scenarios.
- Criminal law and civil liberties education.
- Community Policing.
- Introduction to prosecution, restorative justice, and the courts.
- Investigative techniques.
- Officer survival.
- SWAT team demonstrations.
- Vehicle stops and DUI investigations.
