Elevate Erie: Share Your Ideas for the Future with a Vision & Values Survey

The Town of Erie wants to hear from you! The Elevate Erie Comprehensive Plan + Transportation Mobility Plan process is underway, and the project team has launched the first community-wide vision and values survey. Complete the survey online and learn more about this plan update process.

This survey will provide the project team with initial direction for the plans based on what the community values and how residents believe we should influence and manage change. We also want to know how residents want to engage throughout the planning process – so let us know! Thanks in advance for your time, we appreciate your commitment to our community.

Community Police Academy - March 1

The nine-week academy meets Wednesday nights from 6-9 p.m. at the Erie Police Department beginning March 1.

The academy is designed to provide a medium for community members to understand why police do the things they do, encourage community members to become active in volunteering to help police in their neighborhoods, and heighten ownership in the Erie Police Department.

The Community Police Academy offers the following:

Building searches, including shoot or don’t shoot scenarios.
Criminal law and civil liberties education.
Community Policing.
Introduction to prosecution, restorative justice, and the courts.
Investigative techniques.
Officer survival.
SWAT team demonstrations.
Vehicle stops and DUI investigations.

Erie’s Old House Video Series

We have a new video series for you, brought to you by Luke Bolinger, Development & Neighborhood Services Division Manager. This one we are calling "Erie's Old House" and will follow renovations at the old Schofield Farmhouse at Schofield Open Space. View a promotional video about the series now and stay tuned for the release of the first episode on Thursday, Jan. 12. Videos will be shared on social media and posted to the Schofield Open Space webpage.

Town of Erie Cone Zones

Speed Limit Change on WCR 5– There has been a speed limit change on WCR 5 between Erie Parkway and WCR 10. The Town recently completed an evaluation of appropriate speed limits for this area and results of the evaluation have determined that the speed limit should be reduced to 35 mph. Signs have been swapped, so remember to slow down! Also remember that speeds are even lower through School Zone areas during peak commuting times.
- Erie PD will be helping out with education of the new speed limit with extra officer presence during school drop-off and pick-up for the next week.
Road Grinding on Erie Parkway –The contractor for roadwork at Erie Parkway and WCR 7 will be working on smoothing out the roadway from Jan. 9-13, 2023. This work is necessary to bring the road into compliance with the Town’s construction standards. Lane shifts will be in place throughout the grinding process and work is weather/temperature dependent.
- Traffic light is scheduled to be functional at the intersection on Feb. 14, weather permitting. More information about the installation and exact timing will be coming soon.

Road work is weather-dependent, and timelines may shift. Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians should always be aware and use caution when in and around work zones. Whenever possible, please avoid the construction areas.
