Town Staff to Participate in the Being Better Neighbors Juneteenth Celebration

Being Better Neighbors and the Erie Chamber of Commerce are joining forces to host a day-long celebration of Junteenth on Saturday, June 18 and the Town of Erie will be in attendance all day.

From noon to 4:30 p.m., Being Better Neighbors will host Erie’s 2nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration on Briggs Street. Following the Juneteenth event will be a FACE concert at 6:45 p.m. hosted by the Erie Chamber of Commerce. Erie’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team will be at the event with a table to discuss the Town’s effort to be a more welcoming and diverse community.
The Town’s Sustainability team will have three-bin waste stations at the event to help you conveniently organize waste and promote a Zero Waste event!

Also be sure to wave to Erie Police officers who will also be on hand to meet with residents and ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday!

WCR 5 Improvement Project Phase 3 Begins June 16

Beginning Thursday, June 16, the Town of Erie will move into Phase 3 of the WCR 5 Improvements Project. Phase 3 was initially slated to begin just after Memorial Day, but heavy rain and other constraints pushed the transition date for this phase.

The project will ultimately increase safety for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists and will improve traffic flow through the area. During this phase, there will be a full closure of WCR 5 directly in front of Erie High School. Access to Colliers Parkway and access to the north entrance of EHS will be closed. Access to the south entrance of EHS will remain open coming in from the south on WCR 5. Access from the north or from Flora View Drive on the west into Soaring Heights Elementary will remain open.

Please see the full press release for more details.

Shareable Parks and Quality of Life

Parks in Erie get really busy at times. If you happen to visit a treasured amenity when parking and access are challenging, the Erie Police Department offers some ways to promote shareability with safety for everyone in mind.
