Boy Scouts Remember Fallen Soldiers this Memorial Day

Erie’s Hometown Boy Scout Troop 62 will host a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 30 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Troop members will read the Presidential Proclamation for Memorial Day, then take turns reading a list of the fallen buried at Mount Pleasant. This event is free and all are welcome to help honor Erie’s brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.

The Board of Trustees officially proclaimed Memorial Day in the Town of Erie for Monday, May 30 with a heartfelt remembrance and reading of the proclamation by Trustee Ari Harrison. A recording of the proclamation is available for viewing on YouTube.

Congrats Class of 2022

To all our local graduates, we’re proud of your accomplishments! The past few years have had more than their fair share of challenges, but you’re all persevered and made it to this special day. On behalf of the Town of Erie and Erie Police, congratulations to the Class of 2022.

Please remember that if you’re attending graduation parties this weekend, celebrate responsibly and plan for a designated driver if you’re drinking. Stay safe and again, congratulations!

Free COVID Tests

Because we continue to see a rise in the number of confirmed COVID cases in the metro area, the Town of Erie wants to remind residents that free COVID tests are still available to be sent to your home, or you can go to a certified testing site.
  • The federal government can send up to eight free tests per household. Sign up for your tests at  www.covid.gov/tests.
  • Many community testing sites are still open. A complete list of active sites can be found at covid19.colorado.gov/testing

Lowe's Home Improvement Opening

Lowe’s Nine Mile Set to Open on June 3, 2022

The new Lowe’s at Nine Mile, a 45-acre mixed-use development public-private partnership, will open to the public on June 3 after a private “board-cutting ceremony” at 9 a.m. Lowe’s and King Soopers will anchor this new, mixed-used complex that also includes eight other commercial properties and 290 apartment units.

The Nine Mile Development supports both the Town of Erie and the City of Lafayette under an Intergovernmental Agreement that was finalized on May 10 at the Erie Board of Trustees meeting. Erie annexed a portion of land in Lafayette for commercial development. Under the agreement, both communities will develop commercial and residential properties and share sales tax revenue generated at the complex as well as sales tax generated from new construction on the Lafayette parcel located on the west side of US 287.

“The development of this corner will bring existing and future residential areas together and provide an exciting new commercial center,” said Julian Jacquin, Economic Development Director for the Town of Erie. “Additionally, because of the IGA that the town communities were able to establish, we will not only have new retail available but also a new revenue stream for Erie.” Other planned businesses are medical offices, Taco Bell and several other small businesses which will open over the next couple of years.

Erie Board of Trustee members and Town leadership will be on-hand at the “board cutting” and available afterward. Lowe’s is located at 2910 Arapahoe Road, south of the Arapahoe Ridge Marketplace.
