Town Administrator's Weekly Update
Erie Farmers Market

Town Staff Will Be at Farmers’ Market

The Erie Farmers’ Market is back beginning May 12. The Market will be open every Thursday through Sept. 8 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. The Market is located on Briggs Street between Moffat and Wells streets.

On May 12 and May 19, Erie Economic Development team will be on-hand to talk about all things economic development and specifically, the new Erie Makerspace. What is a makerspace you may ask? Makerspaces are collaborative workspaces for those in the creative industries. It is intended to be a mixed-use facility that may include studio space, arts and crafts, technical space, metal forging areas, and communal areas for learning, sharing, and exploring.

If you are interested in learning more about the Makerspace, contact Economic Development at economicdevelopment@erieco.gov or visit the website.
History of housing in the US

History of Housing – Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

A hot topic around the country, and right here in our own community, is affordable housing. But affordability can mean very different things from one family to another. And throughout the history of the United States, people of color have been denied access to purchasing and renting housing in multiple ways. Hear from DEI Manager Alberto De Los Rios as he reviews the history of housing and race in America and how early laws—as well as more recent ones—have trickle-down effect for generations.
