The Optimist Club of Erie has announced the details of the 2022 ‘Respect for Law’ poster contest. The contest is open to elementary school-age children (K-8) who attend Erie elementary schools. Entry forms are available at the elementary schools, or the Police Department (1000 Telleen Ave.) and are due on Thursday, April 28.

Winners will receive an ice cream party for their entire class and a gift card to Blackjack Pizza. The first-place winner receives $100, and second place, $50 as well as recognition on www.erie.optimistweb.org., the Police Annual Report, and www.erieco.gov/Police.

The contest was created to involve youth in understanding and respecting laws, and to promote good citizenship. Submissions should include a written statement describing a law and why it is important. Past entries have focused on seatbelt usage, littering, wearing a helmet, leashing dogs, etc.
