Data Analysis Request: Upland West Station

An instrument response of 600mV was recorded at the Upland West Ajax Air Quality Monitoring Station on Feb. 28 between approximately 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Ajax staff were contacted about the event and Town staff were informed that a air sample canister collection was not triggered by the event as the Upland West has had a new Photoionisation Detector Lamp (PID) Lamp installed. This new piece of equipment is more sensitive than the instrument in adjacent stations. The threshold which would trigger a canister collection for this lamp was set to 1000 mV while Ajax established the new baseline reading for the upgraded PID lamp.

Upon review, the station has leveled out at a baseline reading around 250 mV, and the threshold for canister collection going forward has been reset to 500 mV.
