Air sample silver canisters

Check the Air Quality at Your Home

If you’ve been curious about the air quality in your own backyard, you can sign up to take an air sample. Canisters are available for one-off sample collection that can be administered directly by the residents, or have help from a staff member. These canisters are available for pick-up at Town Hall and can be reserved by visiting www.erieco.gov/AirQuality or emailing erieoilandgas@erieco.gov. Canister samples are analyzed by the lab at the Colorado State University Department of Atmospheric Science using gas chromatography. The canister analysis measures 47 different VOC compounds plus methane and ethane. Canister reports are available for viewing at www.ajax-analytics.com/erie-event-reports. Watch a short video on how the process works.

COVID Rapid Test Kits at ECC

The Town of Erie was previously a distribution site for medical-grade masks, and will now be a distribution site for COVID Rapid Test Kits. The mask distribution sites gave out more than 3.7 million free medical grade masks to Coloradans. Building on the success of that program, we signed up to receive rapid antigen COVID-19 tests to distribute to the public for free, expanding access to free at-home tests for Coloradans.

The tests are available at the Erie Community Center at 450 Powers Street during regular hours. You can also view other distribution site locations at https://covid19.colorado.gov/testing.

New Turf Replacement Rebates

Residents can take advantage of turf replacement rebates to help reduce outdoor water use, save money on your water bill, and make your yard beautiful! Rebates for qualified projects amount up to $2000. Projects can replace your typical grass lawn with water-wise gardens or low water use grass. Projects must replace between 200-1000sqft of maintained irrigated turf grass with low or no water use plantings. Work with a landscape professional to design a landscape plan that consists of low, or no water use plants. Visit the website for more information. Designs for these projects should be submitted between March 1 and Aug. 1. The Town has partnered with Resource Central to help with the actual removal of turf for a limited number of participants.
