Clean Air Champions

On Sept. 10, the Regional Air Quality Council presented Erie's Sustainability team with a Clean Air Champions award for progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improvements to monitoring local air quality. The recognition included the opportunity to donate winning funds to a local nonprofit. With the holiday season approaching, the food bank was a natural recipient choice! Currently, cleaning supplies and toiletries such as washing detergent, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and deodorants are most needed. Thanks for all that you do for our community, Erie Community Food Bank. For more, visit www.erieco.gov/869/Air-Quality.

Organizing Neighborhoods of Erie

ONE Committee

The Organizing Neighborhoods of Erie committee was established in 2019 to provide opportunities for communication between the Board of Trustees and representatives of neighborhoods. The quarterly meetings also allow communities to share interests and concerns with the Town administration in an open dialogue. Is your neighborhood being represented at these meetings? If you are interested in representing your neighborhood, email contactus@erieco.gov to learn more. No need to be on your HOA board or committee – all residents are welcome.

What About Wetlands?

What About Wetlands?

What would make Erie Wetlands special to you? The Town of Erie is engaging in a public outreach effort to discover how likely residents are to visit a wetlands area and what sort of designs or amenities might be desirable. Learn more about this lagoon-to-wetland conversion project, located to the northwest of the Recycling Center, and tell us what you think online at www.erieco.us.
Protect Waterways this Fall

Protect Waterways this Fall

Fall has officially arrived! Not only will the leaves be changing - so will our lawn care practices. You might be surprised to know that fall can be a critical time for yard care. Lawns that are healthy and well-tended will look better come spring and are less likely to require extra fertilizers or pesticides. You can care for your property and plants in a way that keeps them healthy and also protects water quality by removing fallen leaves, aerating your lawn, and properly disposing of yard waste. If you do need to fertilize your lawn, fall is the right time to do it!
