DEI Manager

The Town of Erie announced hiring the Town's first-ever Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Manager. This position was approved and funded by the Board of Trustees with the 2021 Budget, was posted for applications for one month on June 1, 2021, and was filled by Alberto De Los Rios on Aug. 30. As the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Manager, De Los Rios will work closely with Town staff and participate in local, regional, state, and national networks that advance equity. Medication Takeback

The Erie Police Department is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs. Air Quality Monitoring

The Town is pleased to announce the deployment of 10 air quality monitoring stations operated by Ajax Analytics and Colorado State University. The stations were deployed in phases between Aug. 4 and Aug. 17 near oil and gas well pads and in adjacent neighborhoods as part of the Town's Air Quality Monitoring Program, approved by the Board of Trustees in May. Erie Loves Trees!

As a Tree City USA program participant for more than 20 years, Erie residents have demonstrated their long-term love affair with trees. So what are your favorite trees in Erie? Through Oct. 15, the Tree Board invites residents to share a picture and story for a chance to win a Sweets gift card or a $200 nursery gift certificate to plant a new tree. Powers Street Closure

On Tuesday, Aug. 31, asphalt repairs will necessitate a full closure of Powers Street north of Erie Parkway to the Library's parking lot access drive. The Erie Police Department is committed to educating parents on what they need to know regarding teen use of drugs, alcohol, and vaping in Erie schools. On Tuesday, Aug. 24, representatives from Erie's volunteer Boards and Commissions presented their semi-annual progress to the elected officials (Board of Trustees). Battery Recycling

In the first eight months of this year, Town Staff has diverted 154 pounds of batteries from the landfill! The collection efforts were spearheaded by Sustainability and championed by a few recycling-minded employees.
