Town Administrator's Weekly Update

Community Build at Country Fields Park

The Parks & Recreation Department, along with dozens of volunteers, joined Star Playgrounds to build a replacement playground at Country Fields Park on July 24!  Starting with a dirt pad and 200 pieces, volunteers worked throughout the day to assemble the playground structure, including two large multi-age structures, swings, a climbing structure, and two butterfly spinners. The Town saved more than $8,000 by using volunteers, but the camaraderie and pride of the day's achievement were priceless! A special thank you to Luke Bolinger, Community Partnerships & Special Projects Manager, for leading the playground project and coordinating the community build, and to all the volunteers who contributed their talents and time! The new playground is open to the public as of Friday, July 30.

Smart Meters

Smart Meters

This spring, a staff member completing some training noticed an anomaly in water usage for a particular customer. The staff member reached out to the customer to discover they were out of Town and a leak had occurred, causing a flood inside the residence! The homeowner was very grateful, and Town staff was glad to help. This type of concierge service is available to you too! Many homes in Erie have a 'Smart Meter' installed, that with a simple connection to your phone, can help you take control of water usage and be the first to know of any leaks. This free service offers many benefits. Learn more at www.erieco.gov/1350/Smart-Meters.

New Traffic Unit

New Traffic Unit

As the population in the Town of Erie continues to grow, the frequency and severity of traffic collisions have increased. Additionally, over the last five years, traffic-related concerns/issues have been the most consistent request for police service from residents. The newly formed Traffic Unit, which starts Aug. 1, will maintain traffic safety in the Town of Erie through education and a focused goal of reducing the severity and frequency of traffic collisions through town-wide traffic enforcement. For more, please visit the news release.

Tree Board

Volunteer Needed: Tree Board

The Town of Erie Board of Trustees is seeking residents interested in volunteering their time in the community by serving on the Tree Board. Town of Erie residents, especially youth (ages 16-20), are encouraged to apply. Appointed board members will receive orientation in late September to begin the 4-year term commitment. To view more information, and apply by 5 p.m. on Aug. 18, visit www.erieco.gov/volunteer.

Waste Diversion Survey

Last Chance:
Recycling/Composting Survey

Erie residents have expressed a desire for increased waste diversion options in recycling and composting pickup. One of the best ways the Town government can help is to explore the coordination of Town-wide curbside trash, recycling, and composting options. Please participate in a short survey created to gather information about the current state of these programs throughout Erie and how the Town government might have the ability to help improve waste diversion. The survey takes about 5 minutes to complete. Thank you in advance for your input!

COVID Vaccine Clinic at Library

COVID Vaccine Clinic at Library

Did you know that more than 99% of hospitalizations and deaths in the United States right now are of non-vaccinated people? So please don't risk it! Instead, join Weld County for a free vaccine clinic at the Erie Community Library on Aug. 10 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. No appointment or ID is necessary, and vaccines are FREE!
