Employee Survey

High Scores on Employee Opinion Survey

In a recent reveal of the bi-annual Employee Opinion Survey, Town leadership learned that despite a pandemic, Town of Erie employees ranked satisfaction higher than in 2019 with an overall score of 4.08. According to the data collector, Employers Council, anything above a 3.8 is extraordinary. The key takeaways are that employees feel empowered to impact customer service, collaboration is strong and effective, and employees feel cared for and protected from a safety standpoint. See the image for some of the top-scoring questions.
And great news! The Town has been adding new staff positions to maintain service levels so you could have the opportunity to work at an amazing employer. Be sure to visit www.erieco.gov/jobs or follow the Town on LinkedIn for updates on openings.

Vehicle Theft

Vehicle Theft Prevention

Did you know that July is Vehicle Theft Prevention Month? According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 700,000 drivers fall victim to this costly crime each year. Just halfway through this year, Erie has experienced 23 vehicle thefts – that’s as many as had occurred in all of 2019 (18), and 2020 (18)! To reduce motor vehicle theft, take the key; do not leave it in or on the vehicle; close and lock all windows and doors when you park; and never leave valuables in your vehicle, especially if they can be seen outside the vehicle. For more about the topic, visit the NHTSA webpage.

Water the grass, not the sidewalk

Water the Grass, Not the Sidewalk

When water runs off grass, the products applied to lawns often end up in nearby streams and harm aquatic life. Water collects dirt and other pollutants on its way to storm drains, which flow directly to local waterways without treatment. Here's what you can do to protect water quality from home:

  • Observe your sprinklers to see if they are spraying water on the street or sidewalk.
  • If needed, adjust their position and the watering schedule to avoid overwatering.

Visit www.ResourceCentral.org/Sprinklers to schedule a sprinkler consultation. You can schedule a free consultation for your home, HOA, or business.

The 18 participants (ages 12-17) engaged with local officers for a sneak peek into defensive tactics, traffic stops, crime scene processing, evidence collection, building searches, and court testimony. Thanks to partners at the Mountain View Fire District, the two-day academy ended with a glorious water fight. Stay tuned in the spring for registration information for the 2022 Erie Police Youth Academy.
