SOLAWARE Signs at Thomas Reservoir

The Parks and Recreation Department recently installed a SOLAWARE sign at Thomas Reservoir. SOLAWARE signs inform community members of the effects of prolonged exposure to the sun. Each sign has a solar panel that not only powers the unit but indicates the UV index and the number of minutes until skin damage can be expected without protection. When out enjoying the Colorado sun, it’s important to know the risks and protect yourself. Recycling Center Open 7 Days

The Erie Recycling Center has returned to 7-days per week operations between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.! Please make sure to continue only recycling accepted materials – no plastic bags or Styrofoam, and don't forget proof of Erie residency! National Night Out

The Police Popsicle Parade is returning in 2021! The Erie Police invite you to celebrate National Night Out. This nationwide event traditionally includes cookouts with games and activities- the Erie event will meet at parks across Town as the Police and special guests parade to each location. National Night Out aims to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police and community partnerships. Parade routes and special guest information will be posted on the webpage soon, but in the meantime, save the date – Tuesday, Aug. 3. We can't wait to see you!

Street Maintenance

It is Street Maintenance season in Erie! There is a flurry of activity to extend the service life of all 138.5 miles of roads in the summer from pothole filling and patching to crack fill, slurry seal, double chip seal, mill, overlay, and chip seal each year. In July and August, the following roadways are scheduled for surface treatments: Arapahoe Road, Austin Avenue, Meller Street, Telleen Avenue, Erie Parkway, Briggs Street, and Cheesman Street.

4D's of Mosquito Mitigation

"With a West Nile virus-positive mosquito pool detected in Weld County last week, we suggest residents remember personal protection, whether at home or open spaces and to avoid peak activity at dusk and dawn," said VDCI, the Town's contractor for mosquito mitigation. VDCI added, "This year is an uncommon and extraordinary year for mosquito populations."

Please share the 4D's of Mosquito Mitigation:
Drain - remove standing water from your property.
Dress - wear long pants and sleeves to prevent mosquito bites.
Dawn and Dusk - avoid being outside during peak mosquito activity.
Defend - wear EPA approved repellents containing DEET, Picaridin, Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus, and IR3535.

Drought Webinars
