The session is set for Monday, June 21 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. and will be held virtually. To organize participants who wish to speak, registration will be required. After a short presentation by Town staff, participants will be called on in the order their registration is received and each person will have 3 minutes to share their comments. Please review the proposed options for setbacks and register to share your comments. If you do not wish to speak but still want to view/listen to the meeting, please use the same registration link and indicate that you do not wish to speak.

Traffic Advisory - WCR 5

Traffic Advisory: WCR 5

On Monday, June 14, as part of the waterline development work for the Weld County Line 5 improvements, Scott Contracting will be installing utilities. This work will require WCR 5 to fully close both day and night from Colliers Parkway north to WCR 10. The work is expected to last one week, weather permitting. For more information on this project and to subscribe to updates, please visit the Cone Zone alert.

Traffic Signal Update

Traffic Signal Update:
WCR 7 and Erie Parkway

In February 2020, the four-way stop signs with LED surround lights were installed at Weld County Road 7 and Erie Parkway. This installation was an interim solution before permanent traffic signal lights are installed in that intersection. Traffic signals will be installed, though a handful of issues caused delays in the project. See more details on the status and FAQs for the project.

Mosquito

Mosquito Control Awareness Week

Each year, the week of June 21 is declared National  Mosquito Control Awareness Week by the American Mosquito Control Association. 'Mosquito Week' is intended to bring light to the significance of mosquitoes in daily lives and recognize the critical service provided by mosquito mitigation professionals. For more information about Town of Erie mosquito mitigation, visit www.erieco.gov/mosquito.

Police Directives Task Force

Directive Task Force Concludes

For ten months, the nine-member Directives Task Force devoted more than 500 volunteer hours to reviewing 66 Police Department directives. The Task Force chose to narrow their review to 49 directives and ultimately recommended minor revisions to 26 of those directives. Task Force member Justin Brooks said, "When the Directives Task Force was formed, we were a group of Erie-ites who were new to one another and not sure how well-received our efforts would be. We were all incredibly surprised at how open and accommodating our Police Department has been in applying a critical eye to policies and discussing whether they could be improved." Brooks continued by saying, "The transparency offered by the Command Staff and culture of accountability was clear. Such community collaboration is key to enabling the necessary partnership for effective community policing."
The Erie Police Department self-reviews directives on an annual or as-needed basis. For more information, please visit the Directives Task Force webpage.

Mowing Operations

Mowing Operations

Have you noticed increased grass and weed growth this spring? We have too! The overgrowth is due to a few recent anomalies:

  • Unusual rain levels with more than 10 inches of precipitation this year.
  • Contractors across the region are inundated and running behind on their operations.
  • Mowing requires one pass to address long grass with a large mower and then returning with smaller equipment for cleanup, which does not always occur on the same day.

The Parks Division schedules mowing based on acreage and the contractor's availability. With long stretches of hot, dry weather ahead, crews anticipate being steps ahead of the growth. To report an area that needs attention, please use the ErieSubmit app.

CSU Extension Survey

CSU Extension Survey

Colorado State University Extension is conducting surveys to learn more about issues important to Coloradans. Even if you have not heard of CSU Extension, they want to hear from you! Your responses will help CSU Extension to focus efforts to improve education and resources that benefit our communities. Those who complete the 11-minute survey will be eligible for one of twenty $25 VISA gift cards. Please visit https://extension.colostate.edu/communitysurvey/.

Water Plans

Water Plans Adoption

On Tuesday, June 8, the Board of Trustees adopted the Water Efficiency and Drought and Water Supply Shortage plans. The year-and-a-half effort involved engagement from residents, state-wide stakeholders, advisory boards, and local government leaders. During the update process, the goal '10 in 10' aimed to accomplish a ten percent water savings within ten years in Erie. The success of '10 in 10' depends on each of us playing our part – let's get creative and continue celebrating our collective achievements! Visit the water plans webpage for more.
