Broadband Assistance

Broadband Assistance

There is currently an Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) program available to help low-income families stay connected during the pandemic. Eligible households may receive up to $50 a month towards internet bills and a stipend toward qualifying connected devices. Being Better Neighbors, the Erie Chamber of Commerce, and the Town of Erie are partnering to offer a community celebration for Juneteenth! Join the festivities at Coal Creek Park on Saturday, June 19, from 2-9 p.m. visit the Erie Chamber webpage for details.
Erie Police Co-responder

Police Co-responder

The Erie Police would like to introduce Melissa Richardson, EPD's new co-responder. Co-responders have received extensive training in mental health, substance intoxication and treatment, crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, crisis case management, tactical empathy, and more. Working as a team, law enforcement and a co-responder arrive together to calls for service that may involve mental health, substance use, death of a loved one, or another type of crisis. Did you know the owners or occupants of private property in the Town may prohibit solicitation by posting a sign and registering on the 'Do Not Solicit' list? The list is provided to solicitors upon obtaining their permit in the Town of Erie. Visit the webpage for details and to register.

Street Maintenance

Street Projects

With more than 138 miles of streets in Erie, the Public Works Department is continually working to repair and maintain roads with an estimated $4 million cost each year. Recently, the Board of Trustees approved a streets improvement plan that takes advantage of cost-savings on mill and overlay treatments. Hometown Heroes Banners

The Board of Trustees proclaimed Memorial Day, May 31, as a day of remembrance for those who gave their lives in defense of the United States. They also shared excitement and support for a resourceful resident, Sue Thomson, in her efforts to bring the Hometown Heroes Banners program to Erie. Nominate an Erie vet or active military member to be featured on a banner along Briggs Street later this year so the whole community can recognize their contributions and service. Complete the nomination form, and provide a quality image at www.erieco.gov/HometownHero.

Police Directive Task Force

Police Directive Task Force

The nine-member task force, formed in August of 2020, has completed its review of the Police Department Directives. A formal presentation of their recommendations and results will occur at the Board of Trustees' regular meeting in the evening on Tuesday, June 8. To view the presentation, visit the Agenda Center.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day Hours

The Erie Community Center will be open with modified hours on Monday, May 31, from 6 a.m. – 1 p.m. in honor of Memorial Day. Check out the modified fitness schedule here or drop in to utilize weight and cardio areas or the pool.

The Erie Recycling Center will be closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, May 29-31, for the Memorial Day weekend. The center will be back open for regular hours on Tuesday, June 1. Visit www.erieco.gov/recyclingcenter to view regular hours of operations and learn which materials are accepted at the center.
