Respect for Law Poster Contest

Poster Winners!

Congratulations to the winners of the annual 'Respect for Law Poster Contest' held at Erie Elementary School, hosted by the Optimist Club of Erie. The second-place winner, Austin(3rd grade), depicted a litterer receiving education by an officer. The first-place winner, Anora (4th grade), also chose the topic of littering. She drew a side-by-side comparison of a park where littering laws are not followed adjacent to the same park where littering laws are respected. Excellent work, you two!
Economic Development Week

Economic Development Week

To honor Economic Development (ED) Week, the ED Department took a few moments away from their many projects to share some ED whimsy:

"Days are getting longer, flowers are beginning to bloom, and shovels are breaking ground! We are excited for all of the great new projects and excited to work with Erie's existing and future businesses. The ED Department is here to help you start, grow, or bring your favorite businesses to Erie. Happy ED Week!" Ben Pratt, ED Director.

"We are all beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel from the pandemic. The ED Team is especially excited about what the rest of 2021 has in store. Throughout the past year, we have seen resiliency, we have seen the strength, and most importantly, we have seen our residents come together and support one another. Because of all of this, Erie will emerge from the pandemic stronger than ever. Let's celebrate all of these efforts and accomplishments together during ED week. Stay safe and healthy!" Lucas Workman, ED Coordinator.

Special thanks to the artist community for beautifying the area and the volunteers for installing sidewalk extensions for special event closures of Briggs Street. Also, a big appreciation for the Downtown Erie Business Association for the hard work in making Downtown Erie a great destination to visit this summer!
