Bike Parking Plaza

Bike Month

May is Bike Month! And what is a better excuse to cycle around Town than for the Erie Town Fair? We challenge our residents to bike downtown to the event this year! Our Bike Parking Plaza is the perfect safe space to lock up your bike and explore downtown. Explore the neighborhood and get a little fresh air on the way to the Town Fair (fingers crossed for sunny, warm weather). The Bike Parking Plaza is at the corner of Pierce St. and Wells St. and is available 24/7 for bike parking.

Older Americans Month

Older Americans Month

Older Americans Month dates back to 1963 when President John F. Kennedy designated May as Senior Citizens Month. The 2021 theme, for what is now named Older Americans Month, is "Communities of Strength."  During the Board of Trustees regular meeting on April 27, the Trustees bestowed special recognition to the power of connection and engagement of our older residents in the Town of Erie. Watch the slideshow presentation here.

From Lawns to Air

From Lawns to Air

Fact: gas-powered mowers produce a large amount of CO2. The EPA estimates that, with some 54 million Americans mowing their lawns on a weekly basis, gas lawn mower emissions account for as much as five percent of the nation’s total air pollution. Do your part to mow down pollution by switching to an electric lawnmower or a human push-powered mower! Learn more about the Mow Down Pollution campaign by the Regional Air Quality Council here.

Building Safety Month

Building Safety Month

Homes and buildings built in compliance with building safety codes are essential to helping communities minimize the risks of death, injury, and property damage in the event of a disaster. The regulation of building construction in the United States dates back to the 1700s. Today, the International Codes, developed by the Code Council and adopted by our community, are the most widely used and adopted building safety codes in the U.S. and worldwide. Learn more about Building Safety Month by downloading the Safety Toolkit, visiting the Kids Corner, and more at www.buildingsafetymonth.org.
