Residents Urged to Reduce Water UsageDespite the heavy snow that hit the front range in March, mountain snowpack is still below average in some areas, and streamflow levels are expected to be low-to-average in the upcoming season. We are joining all water customers in the North Metro in identifying ways to save water now to help prevent drought restrictions and maintain water supply throughout the summer. The North Metro Water Suppliers, including the Town of Erie, crafted standard recommendations to help customers reduce water use, save money, and protect future water supplies. Monitor Water UsageIn a recent training exercise, utility billing staff noticed an unusual spike in water usage at an Erie household. Staff contacted the resident, who shared that they had been away for an extended time. It turns out the entire basement had flooded! We share this story to offer some of the resources and assistance the Town provides so that you may monitor your water usage: - Sign up for a free Slow the Flow irrigation consultation at www.erieco.gov/SlowtheFlow.
- Replace old, leaking, or broken water equipment with new water-efficient equipment and receive rebates on your water bill. Get started at www.erieco.gov/WaterRebates.
- Check for leaks both inside and outside of your home. If the home is already equipped with a smart meter, be sure to download the EyeOnWater App to monitor usage and be alerted to leaks. More information is available at www.erieco.gov/EyeOnWater.

Safe Digging MonthAs part of National Safe Digging Month, Colorado 811 encourages homeowners to take these steps when planning a digging project this spring: - Always contact 811 at least three business days before digging, regardless of the property's depth or homeowner's familiarity.
- Plan ahead. Submit your request on a Monday or Tuesday for work planned for an upcoming weekend.
- Consider moving the location of your project if it is near utility line-markings.
- If a contractor has been hired, confirm that the contractor has contacted 811. Don't allow work to begin if the lines aren't marked.
- Visit www.co811.org for more information.
