Stolen Property Recovered
Thanks to Owner and Detectives
Erie, CO - In the early morning hours of Sunday, March 21, a locked U-Haul truck was stolen from in front of a residence on S. Parkdale Circle. The U-Haul truck was later found, but with the majority of the owner's possessions missing.
Ten days later, on March 31, the owner alerted the Erie Police Department to an online posting displaying one of their items for sale. Erie Detectives arranged to meet the seller in Adams County, and with the assistance of Boulder County Sheriff's Office, arrested two suspects in connection to the Erie theft. The investigation has uncovered a second U-Haul, stolen out of Denver with another set of stolen property. Additional charges are pending as the investigation unfolds. There is no further information at this time.
The Erie Police Department Detectives share this story to thank the owners for their quick action in reporting the theft and their assistance in locating their property online. The department is thankful for the partnerships with the community we serve and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office's assistance. This instance is a prime example of effective community policing.
