EPD Arrest Two Vehicle Trespass Suspects
Right Place, Right Time
In two separate instances in the past eight days, Erie Police Officers arrested two suspects for 1st Degree Criminal Trespass to motor vehicles. In both cases, the vehicles were unlocked, the suspects reside outside Town, and trespassed in the early morning hours.
- At 1:30 a.m., on Feb. 25, in the Safeway parking lot at 3333 Arapahoe Road, officers approached a 49-year-old Arvada man rummaging inside a vehicle not registered in his name. His vehicle was located. He was arrested.
- At 4 a.m., on Feb. 17, in the 1400 block of Blue Sky Circle, officers approached a 31-year-old man from Dacono rummaging around the back seat of an SUV not registered in his name. His vehicle was located. He was arrested.
In both instances, officers were in the right place at the right time. Unfortunately, we cannot always be everywhere. These crimes of opportunity are on the rise metro-wide. In Erie in 2020, the Town received 150 reports of motor vehicle trespasses compared to 68 in 2020.
