Safer Main Streets Award

The Colorado Department of Transportation and the Denver Regional Council of Governments selected the Town of Erie, among 30 transportation projects, to receive matching funds up to $2,360,000 to improve County Line Road from Telleen to Evans. Governor Jared Polis said, "The Safer Main Streets Initiative is a great opportunity for local governments and the State to work together to ensure we are all successfully serving our communities." Last summer, local government agencies were invited to submit their best and most creative solutions to improve safety and accessibility. In her application, Wendi Palmer, the Town's Civil Engineer, demonstrated the need to widen County Line Road (CLR), construct a shared-use path, and add sidewalks and left-turn lanes to enhance the overall safety of pedestrians and bicycles. Thank you Wendi! Your thoughtful application will help the Town make CLR safer, more walkable, more efficient and more beautiful!
Arapahoe Road traffic Advisory

Traffic Advisory: Arapahoe Road

On Thursday, January 14, contractors will start installing the utility crossing on Arapahoe Road between Beasley Drive and 111th Street for the Nine Mile development. The work will last approximately three weeks, weather permitting. Motorists can expect significant delays throughout the morning and afternoon and are urged to pay close attention to the lanes shifting in both directions. Traffic control signage and flaggers will be on site. Please reduce speeds, and if possible, avoid the construction area. For more information, please call 303-926-2877.

covid screening

Health Screening

The Town has equipped the Erie Community Center and Leon A. Wurl Service Center with state of the art, FDA approved thermal checkpoint scanners. All other Town facilities, including Town Hall, and the Police Department, will soon be equipped with similar devices. The health screeners are ADA compliant and will be used by staff and visitors alike.

Vaccine Distribution

Vaccine Update

On December 30, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment updated the vaccine distribution plan based on the Center for Disease Control recommendations. In the first phase, the vaccine will be initially distributed to the highest risk health care workers, people who have had direct contact with COVID-19 patients (for 15 minutes or more over a 24 hour period), long-term care facility staff, and residents. Next will be Coloradoans age 70+, moderate-risk health care workers, first responders, frontline essential workers, and continuity of state government. For additional information please visit https://covid19.colorado.gov/vaccine.

Recycle Center

Recycling Center Reminders

The Recycling Center is open during the most popular use hours of use - Saturday – Tuesday from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m.,  for your convenience. Thank you for recycling responsibly! Due to 'wish-cycling' (illegal dumping and contaminations), the center must be staffed and may need to close periodically to empty the bins and ensure safety. Please check the web page for COVID-19 protocols, be alerted to temporary closures, and discover what is accepted. Please also call the Sustainability Department with any questions or concerns at 303-926-2880.

Radar Traffic Trailers

Traffic Trailers

The Erie Police Department has retired the radar traffic trailers for the remainder of the winter season. In the coming months, the cold temperatures adversely affect the batteries. Should a resident desire traffic patrol by an officer, please call 303-441-4444. Residents may request the radar trailers when the warmer temperatures return. Until then, please encourage neighbors to drive at safe speeds all seasons of the year.
