Police Directives Task Force
Seventy qualified residents submitted applications to serve on the newly formed Community Task Force to review Erie Police Department’s directives. The applications were reviewed and ranked by a three-person screening committee composed of Erie resident and Building Better Neighbors member Justin Brooks, Trustee Sara Loflin, and Human Resources Director Alicia Melendez. The Board of Trustees reviewed their recommendations and confirmed their top nine candidates at the Board of Trustee’s August 11 meeting. Ribbon Cutting

Last week the Erie Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting for the tenants in the new building at 615 Briggs Street. The site is now 90 percent leased with space for one more tenant. To view this, and other available properties check out the Town of Erie Available Properties tool.

Scam

A new scam is circulating with people claiming to be COVID-19 contact tracers. The scammers ask for personal information. State and county health department contact tracers will NOT ask for payment, bank account or credit card numbers, a social security number, or resident status. Contact tracers will, however, ask for your name and date of birth as well as relevant health information related to COVID-19. For more information about this scam and to report fake contact tracers, please visit the FTC complaint website.

Traffic Advisory County Line Road at Vista Parkway

Portions of County Line Road will be closed at Vista Parkway, Monday, August 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for utility work. The contractor will be making repairs and installing a storm sewer which requires trenching across the roadway. The roadway will be accessible with one lane of travel. The work is expected to take two weeks, weather permitting. After work hours, lanes will be open with some rough surfaces. For more see the news release.

His duties are many, but he will always ensure Erie has a strong voice in regional economic development strategy, marketing and policy. Thanks for representing Erie so well!

DEI Advisory Board Deadline Approaching

The Town of Erie is committed to equity and inclusion and welcomes diversity. To better support this commitment, the Erie Board of Trustees is establishing a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Board. We are seeking applications for nine founding members of this Advisory Board representing diversity (including racial, ethnic, LGBTQ, economic background and disabilities). These founding members, with the feedback of the community, will work to shape the role and focus of the Advisory Board to be a responsive, permanent and effective advisory board of the Town of Erie. Applications are due Friday, August 21, 2020.
