Police Activity Resolved
2200 block of Linden Place, Vista Ridge
Erie, Colorado. On the morning of Monday, April 20, 2020, Erie Detectives began to conduct an investigation into a possible domestic violence situation, which had occurred the previous evening, at a residence in the 2200 block of Linden Place. A search warrant was obtained to search the residence on the afternoon of April 20.
Attempts to gain voluntary compliance from the male resident were not effective; the search warrant was not executed at the time. The Erie Police called Boulder County SWAT to assist.
Between 2:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon and well into the night, numerous attempts were repeatedly made by police to be allowed access into the residence. At one point, the male resident fired a weapon toward officers.
Various tactics were used to gain entry while simultaneously trying to get the male resident to exit the home. At approximately 2:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 20, Boulder County SWAT, with the assistance of Boulder PD SWAT, Longmont SWAT and Broomfield SWAT, entry was gained and the male was taken into custody.
Scott A. Barbarick, age 48, of Erie, Colorado faces possible charges of Attempted Homicide of a Peace Officer, Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender, Illegal Discharge of a Weapon and Felony Menacing.
