Town Administrator's Weekly Update
Solomon's Drawing of Football
"A huge thank you to the two gentleman (Town Staff) who came to retrieve our son’s football from a storm drain. We so appreciate it. You made his day!" Kara Woodworth.

Elections
The coronavirus pandemic is forcing closures and postponements of many important events. However, there is no procedure under Colorado state law for a statutory town to either cancel or postpone its regular election date due to an emergency. Consequently, Erie is proceeding with the April 7 municipal election. Elections staff is taking extra precautions to maintain the safety of all elections workers, judges and voters who drop off their ballots. Please mail your ballot or drop it off in the outdoor 24/7 Utility/Ballot Box located outside the main entrance to Town Hall. Ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m. on April 7.

Mindfulness
For this weekly update I'd like to share some excerpts of the voices of Town Staff captured in email messages:

From the Town Facilities Supervisor to crew:
I want to thank you all for diligently undertaking the sanitizing of our facilities; I appreciate and honor each of you and want you to know I have never worked with a finer group of people. I have expressed to you all many times how much I appreciate your strong sense of responsibility, and I could not appreciate that more than I do today. I also wanted to share with you a little perspective that came to me last night, in hopes that it will support your continued efforts in sanitizing our buildings.

I acknowledge that our present duties may, at times, become very boring and feel less than satisfying. But it occurred to me that we are fulfilling one of the most important and significant roles in the Town of Erie.  It would not be a stretch to say that you may literally be saving someone’s life by your efforts.

A few reminders about Town services:

What Not to Flush

Toilet paper supplies may be running low and people need to use wipes, paper towels, newspaper or whatever else they can find. But it’s important that these other products go in the trash and not the toilet- even if they say they are flushable. Otherwise, wastewater systems get clogged and can create another public health problem. Do your part and only put the 3 P’s in the toilet: pee, poo and toilet paper.
