Town of Erie Welcomes New Economic Development Director
The Town of Erie is pleased to welcome Julian Jacquin as the new Economic Development Director. Julian’s first day with the Town was last week, Tuesday, Sept. 7.
The previous Economic Development Director, Ben Pratt, left the position in June to pursue opportunities out of state with his family.
Julian was one of a handful of final candidates interviewed out of a very competitive field of local and national applicants vying for this position. As a rapidly growing community, Erie has become quite the draw for economic development professionals hoping to join in on the expansion. Julian is coming to the Town of Erie from Missouri where he worked for the last five years with the City of Wildwood as their Economic Development Manager and also as the Interim Deputy City Administrator for the last year. Before joining a local government team, Julian worked with a consulting company which specialized in working with local governments and real estate developers to realize development and redevelopment opportunities. He also has extensive experience with the Chamber of Commerce in West St. Louis County representing the City of Wildwood and acting as Chairman of the Executive Board and Vice Chair of Economic Development, as well as acting as the Public Policy Chair on the Missouri Economic Development Council.
“We are looking forward to having Julian on our team here in Erie,” said Town Administrator Malcolm Fleming. “His experience and innovative spirit will be key to maintaining Erie’s economic growth and resilience into the future.”
Julian has previously lived in Colorado spending much of his youth here and attending the University of Colorado: Boulder in their Environmental Design program before moving to Missouri. He is looking forward to returning to the Front Range and digging into the busy economic landscape here in Erie.
“I have always had a soft spot for Colorado and this position is the perfect way to use my skillset and get back to a place I love,” Julian explained of his interest in the position. “I look forward to getting to know the development landscape here in Erie and help bolster a thriving community for the residents and business owners.”
