The Erie Police Department wants to remind kids, parents and motorists to be careful as the new school year begins. There are several things to keep in mind:
- Parents of younger children – talk with your children and remind them they need to always cross at crosswalks and never run between parked cars into the street.
- When using crosswalks, make sure the child crosses with the walk sign and/or when traffic is clear in both directions.
- Motorists – drive cautiously and remember to drive at/or under the posted speed limit. The Erie Police Department will be enforcing the speed limit, especially in school zones.
- Motorists are also cautioned to pay attention to their surroundings. Distracted driving is dangerous, especially when combined with kids heading to/from school.
If careless driving or suspicious activity is observed, please contact the Erie Police Department through Boulder County Dispatch at 303-441-4444.
We hope everyone has a great start to the new school year and stays safe. As always, please contact the Erie Police Department if you have any questions or concerns.
