The final phase of the Weld County Road 5 project is underway. With WCR5 construction coinciding with the first weeks of the school year, the Town of Erie and St. Vrain Valley School District have coordinated safe routes for drop-off and pick-up.
Comprehensive messaging from St. Vrain Valley School District will be released next week. Until then, the Town is sharing Safe Routes. Please refer to the Safe Routes Map for best routes to arrive and depart from the schools.
Commuters:
If your commute takes you through the area of WCR5 between Erie Parkway and CR10, during the hours of 7 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. from August 17 through the beginning of September, the Police Department suggests you consider alternate routes. This could mean heading farther north with the intent to arrive in a southern location.
Students and Caregivers:
During this transition and while WCR5 remains closed:
Walking, biking, and carpooling is encouraged.
Crosswalk assistance will be available for pedestrians to safely cross Erie Parkway at WCR5, as needed.
Pedestrians (from Grandview, Erie Highlands, or other neighborhoods south of Erie Parkway) should use the pedestrian trail (located to the north of Erie Parkway and west of WCR5) to connect with Colliers Parkway. Heading eastbound, pedestrians will cross WCR5 on the south side of the Colliers Parkway intersection.
Soaring Heights
Enter via Flora View for Soaring Heights.
Erie High
Enter only via the access road between both schools (the entrance north of Colliers Parkway).
Exit only on Colliers Parkway; westbound is the only option.
Buses will pick up and drop off as indicated on the map.
Only buses will be allowed in the bus loop at Erie High School.
Officers will be directing traffic at intersections, specifically WCR5 and Colliers Parkway. Motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists are urged to pay close attention to detours and traffic control signs. Please reduce speeds, stay alert and obey directions from traffic control officers.
