Small Gestures - Big Impact
The road to kindness is paved with good intentions. This is certainly evident with the recent work of the Public Works Department. On Tuesday afternoon, staff adorned the pillars of the Erie Parkway Bridge with hand-crafted blue ribbons. The suggestion to do so came from a community member, who lost his father to the virus, as a way to thank the hard-working men and women battling the epidemic on the front lines.
Mayor Carroll summed the sentiment up by saying, “We are grateful to all front line COVID-19 responders working around the nation. Since we can’t thank these heroes face-to-face, one way we’re choosing to show our support (from a safe social distance) is by installing blue ribbons throughout Town.
Our nation’s healthcare workers who are on the frontlines combatting COVID-19 are a representation of our resolve and spirit. They are an inspiration for the entire country during these challenging times. It is an honor to spread hope in Erie while honoring all those who are risking their lives to save ours.”
We are all learning the importance of everyone doing our part. And, it all starts with a thoughtful understanding of how our actions ripple into the community. Every day is a new chance to choose something positive.
