Board Approves Construction Contract for Linear Park Trail Connection
During Tuesday night's meeting the Board of Trustees approved a construction contract to begin the Linear Park Trail Connection in Historic Downtown Erie. This trail connection will increase trail connectivity, improve circulation and encourage alternative forms of transportation to/from the downtown area. The trail will be located between High Street and the alley, south of Coal Miners Park and will connect to the trail system at Erie Community Park. It is anticipated that construction will begin in October and be completed this winter.
Background: In April 2017 the Board of Trustees authorized a contract with Wenk Associates to complete a master plan and construction documents for the Linear Trail Connection. It has been the Town’s and Board of Trustees vision to complete the Linear Trail Connection project. Completion of this will increase trail connectivity, improve circulation and encourage alternative forms of transportation to/from the downtown area. The conceptual master plan was approved by the Board of Trustees on January 23, 2018 and staff was directed to move forward with final construction documents.
