Today, May 15, 2018, we celebrate Peace Officers’ Memorial Day.
In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day. The day always is recognized during the official National Police Week. National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
The Town of Erie would like to thank the Erie Police Department, and all Peace Officers’, past and present, who by their faithful and loyal devotion to their responsibilities have rendered a dedicated service to their communities and, in doing so, have established for themselves an enviable and enduring reputation for preserving the rights and security of all citizens.
