Register today for the 18th session of the Town of Erie’s Citizens' Police Academy! The Citizens' Police Academy will meet Friday evenings starting March 2nd through May 4th from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m.
This is an exciting, hands-on learning experience designed to foster better understanding between law enforcement personnel and the public while educating the participants about police procedures, motivations and decision making. Registration is available to the first 20 applicants. Those that submit after the class is full will be put on a wait list for the next hosted Academy.
All instructors are law enforcement professionals from the Erie Police Department and the Erie Municipal Court.
The Citizens' Academy is not a lecture course; you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with staged domestic violence calls, traffic stops, building searches, DUI enforcement, shooting range visit and much more! You will learn to see all of these situations through the eyes of an officer.
Deadline for applications is February 28, 2018. This is an adult oriented program with a preferred minimum age of 18. Ages 16-17 may attend with a parent/guardian.
For more information and to register, please contact the Erie Police Department at 303-926-2800 or visit www.erieco.gov/253/Citizens-Police-Academy to download an application.
