Latest Update:

November 4, 2021 6:28 PM

On Saturday November 6, Wagner Construction will mobilize to Austin Avenue (east of County Line Road) to complete the asphalt patch work and pavement repair work. This will require lane closures on Austin Avenue, one lane will remain open with flaggers directing traffic.

From October 14 to October 18 open trench construction was completed in Austin Ave from the location east of the school access to the connection to the existing waterline in Mason Ave.  This time was chosen to minimize traffic impact as it is the fall break for the charter school. Due to the time constraints and not wanting to impact school traffic in the area, the contractor did not have time to pave back the areas of pavement impacted.

Additionally during this time, our Horizontal Directional Drill contractor was pulling pipe to finalize the pipe install in this area. Unfortunately, after completing the drilling and beginning to pull the pipe through, the soil did not cooperate. It caused heaving of the pavement/asphalt in some areas and is made sections of the road unsafe to drive over. Wagner construction completed a temporary fix of the heaved pavement in areas to make the surfaces drivable temporarily.

On Saturday Oct. 30, Wagner Construction mobilized to do the asphalt patch work, however were not able to complete all of the repairs.

Motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and traffic control signs, reduce speeds and, if possible, avoid the construction area during work hours. Traffic control signage, delineators and flaggers will be on site to enable travel through the construction area in a timely and safe manner. Delays may occur and alternate routes are strongly recommended.

All dates are subject to change due to unforeseen site conditions and weather delays. Updates will be sent out as needed to update the schedule.
For more information on this project, please contact Town of Erie Civil Engineer, Wendi Palmer at 303-926-2875.
