Erie Parkway will remain CLOSED to traffic in both directions throughout the evening of July 21 and into Thursday, July 22.

The Public Works Department reports that the cause of the sink hole is a collapsed pipe. This 5-foot diameter pipe had rusted,  become brittle, and gave way.

Garney Construction has located two sections of new pipe to install, along with constructing new headwalls and the hole backfilled. A paving contractor is on-call for road patching.

Motorists are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and traffic control signs, reduce speeds and, if possible, avoid the area.

Traffic control signage, delineators, and flaggers will be on-site to enable travel through the construction area in a timely and safe manner. Delays may occur and alternate routes are strongly recommended.
