Program Details
The Town of Erie, Department of Public Works is offering the opportunity for Town of Erie residents to ride-along with a snow plows during a winter storm. All participants need to be at least 18 years old and capable of climbing into the large truck. Each truck can accommodate one passenger.
How It Works
Interested participants can fill out an application and waiver with times that they are available to participate in the ride along.
Prior to a snow event, Town staff will reach out to you to confirm your availability and schedule a time for your ride-along.
Participants will arrive at the Leon A. Wurl Service Center (150 Bonnell Avenue) where they will be given an overview of the Town's snow plowing operations. The participants will meet the plow driver and climb into the truck.
The ride-along will typically last 1 to 2 hours and return to the Leon A. Wurl Service Center.
What to Bring
Participants should dress in comfortable clothes and stable footwear, boots are preferred. Layered clothing is recommended, as the cab of the plow trucks are kept very warm to minimize the ice build-up on the windshields (suggestion of a t-shirt or light sweatshirt).
