Co-Responder

Co-responders receive extensive training in mental health, substance intoxication and treatment, crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, crisis case management, tactical empathy, and more. Working as a team, law enforcement and a co-responder arrive together on calls that may involve mental health, substance use, the death of a loved one, or another type of crisis.

Boulder County Co-Responder Program

In June 2021, Erie Police introduced a co-responder dedicated to Erie and responded to 168 calls in the Town of Erie. In its second year, 2022, a single CoResponder assisted officers on 208 calls. The Boulder County Co-Responder team works with Nederland, Lafayette, and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.
