Unified Development Code

The Unified Development Code (UDC) can be found in Title 10 of the Town of Erie Municipal Code and the amendment that went into effect on Feb. 18, 2022 can be found in Municipal Code Ordinance 03-2022. The UDC contains the Town’s subdivision and zoning regulations and the land use application processes that are required for new development within the Town of Erie.

On Jan. 11, 2022 the Board of Trustees approved a major Phase 2 update to the UDC that went into effect on Feb. 18, 2022. The Phase 2 updates were reviewed by the Denver Metro Home Builders Association; the Planning Commission and Board of Trustees both held study sessions to discuss the changes in the fall of 2021; and the Planning Commission reviewed and made their recommendation to the Board of Trustees on the UDC updates at their Oct. 20, 2021 and Nov. 3, 2021 meetings.

Land use applications submitted on or after Feb. 18 are subject to the updated regulations in the chapters of the UDC and the new Development Design Standards booklet. The Development Design Standards booklet includes site and building design standards for new residential development in a user friendly format that includes illustrations and diagrams.
