Tree Recycling and Mulch

The Town of Erie will host the annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program beginning on Sunday, December 26, 2021.

Residents may drop off trees for recycling at the Erie Recycling Center located at 1000 Briggs Street. The designated drop off area will be clearly marked.  Christmas tress will only be accepted through Sunday, January 16, 2022.

NEW THIS YEAR: Residents are required to show proof of Town of Erie residency.

Trees will be accepted during the recycling center hours: 800a-400p, Saturday - Tuesday (weather permitting), please check the Recycling Center website for updated information. Closures may occur at the discretion of Town Staff for weather, safety, or full recycling bins.

PLEASE NOTE: The Town will not accept bagged or loose leaves, tree stumps or other yard waste or house waste.  All trees must be free from decorations, hooks, ornaments, tinsel, string and beads. 

Beginning Saturday, January 22, 2022 (weather permitting), the Parks Division will mulch the trees and leave the mulch on site for the public to take away free of charge.  The mulch will be on a first come, first served bases. It will be available for Town of Erie residents to pick up, while supplies last, during operation hours of the recycling center. 

Branches & Leaves

The Erie Tree Board offers an annual leaf composting event, but at this time the Town of Erie does not offer yard waste composting on a regular basis.
