Comprehensive Plan

Dear Erie Citizens and Development Community:

Many said updating our Comprehensive Plan and Unified Development Code at the same time could not be done.  However, thanks to the tremendous efforts put forth by our planning staff, citizen advisory committees, the Planning Commission and the Board of Trustees - we did it!
 
Those engaged in this concurrent planning process expressed a desire for a community of quality development, providing a mixture of housing types within neighborhoods, retaining open lands, and preparing user-friendly documents for all to explore and initiate Erie’s future within the Front Range.  If the community goal was quality, it has been worth all of our efforts.  It’s working!

The updated Comprehensive Plan provides more focused guidance and encourages a more flexible approach to future development. The Updated Unified Development Code provides for the key ideas and policies to be codified giving the Plan a solid foundation for implementation.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I wish to thank those who participated in this process as well as all those who consistently gave of their time to attend the numerous Town public meetings.
 
I take great pride in the example we have set for other Colorado communities.

The attached documents were adopted by the Planning Commission on Wednesday, December 21st, 2005.  These documents are in their final form.
