BACKGROUND:  Preservation of existing airfield pavement is a high priority for the FAA, CDOT Aeronautics, and the Town of Erie.  Routine maintenance of pavements helps prolong the service life of investments.  With this project, all joints, cracks, and spalls shall be repaired, which will extend the pavement life and decrease foreign objects debris present on the apron.  The FAA dedicates $150,000 per year in General Aviation (GA) Funds to the Erie Municipal Airport for FAA approved projects.  These funds comprise 95% of project funding with the remaining 5% split between Colorado Division of Aeronautics and the Town. In 2009, the Town used approximately 4 years worth of this type of funding to replace the runway lighting and construct a new midfield taxiway and east connector.
